My artistic inspiration comes from everywhere and everything. Generally, I am influenced by the physical world around me but even more so from deep inside that physical realm. The primary goal for my work is to create imagery that is aesthetically impactful and leaves the viewer with both a sense of wonder and an ongoing source of visual discovery.
My approach to painting has always been more focused on my process rather than the representation of subject matter. I draw from my inner self and attempt to refuse any form of visual familiarity from the physical world. I try to achieve the creation of something new and deny the viewer any sense of cliché or ordinary visual experience. Whether I can accomplish this or not is a subjective point of view and always remains in the eye of the beholder.
The process of applying paint to a surface gives me an endless feeling of enjoyment and satisfaction. An ongoing pursuit of an indescribable illusiveness which I can only hope will continue to reveal itself through hard work and perseverance.
Over my life I have developed a fascination for theoretical physics and cosmology. While my paintings are not necessarily created intentionally with these subjects in mind, each new piece of work seems to reveal this passion through my use of shape, colour, composition and texture. As science is a never-ending pursuit of knowledge, so is art a never-ending pursuit of expression.
